'The top 5 Attractions in Limerick', was a research task given to our elementary group of students to help promote their writing skills. Below is the unedited version of the exercise produced by Giancarlo Marchetti and Karin Tozetti. After only a short time studying English at Birchwater Education (BWE) in Limerick, they have composed an excellent blog by researching and photographing their top five attractions in Limerick City. 1. King John’s Castle
King John’s Castle is a 13th century castle located on King’s Island, the historical city of Limerick, although the site dates back to 922 when the Vikings lived on the Island, the castle itself was built on the orders of King John in 1200. One of the best preserved Norman castles in Europe, the walls, towers and fortifications remain today and are visitor attractions.
The many events in the castle’s fascinating history are illustrated in the interactive center. It has everything from touch screen technology, 3D, models, discovery drawers to computer generated imagery, animations and projections.
There are games designed for kids and they can try on historic costumes like tunics or 18th century dresses. There is a spectacular panoramic 360 degree view from the tallest turret.
In peak season, the castle courtyard bustles with activities as costumes character interact with visitors.

2. The Locke Pub
The Locke bar is a traditional Irish pub, in the heart of Limerick city, the pub dating all the way back to 1724, is de oldest pub of Limerick.

3. The Hunt Museum
The Hunt Museum escribes one of Ireland’s greatest privacy collections of art and architecture, including works by Pinoir, Picasso and Yeas, diverse tastes and interest of two people who formed at, John an Gertruds Hunt.
The Hunt Museum’s purpose built exhibition gallery, exhibits a diverse range of import temporary exhibition from public institution to private collections.
Is open all days, the price is cheap and is a good experience.

4. St. John’s Cathedral
St. John’s Cathedral is a catholic cathedral in Limerick, was built in 1861, It replaced a chapel founded in 1753.
The building has the tallest spire in Ireland, at 94m, and in the tallest standing in Limerick, the spire present itself, standing out against the horizon on nothing against, the backdrop of the Clare Hills.
It’s arquitetur is magnificent, inside and out, one place of much peace.

5. People’s Park
Is the principal park in Limerick city. It was formally opened 1877, in memory of Richard Russel, a prominent local businessman.
This place has lots of fine examples of public art, monuments memories and beautiful colorful garden.
The entrance is free, it’s good for the children and pets, to love a picnic, sit on grass and read a book or listen to music, to have a relaxing day. You should visit this place and enjoy.
